Season’s Greetings: A message from Adam Ginder

As 2021 draws to a close, I would like to reflect on our accomplishments as a profession, and as an association.

With ever-changing Covid restrictions, the CMA pricing order and the upcoming Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) regulation of the funeral plan market, the whole industry is transforming and I’m proud of all that we have achieved together on that journey.

The pivotal role of our profession, caring for families and supporting communities, has been recognised and valued more than ever this year. Our customer centric values help ensure we are in a strong position for the implementation of FCA regulation. The new regulatory framework reflects our customer-first principles and I believe we can confidently embrace the upcoming changes.

Our association’s Regulatory Working Group is closely involved in helping to design and develop Golden Charter’s three-step Pathway to Regulation and I’ve been reassured by how straightforward the process is and the support available to us all.

The first step, to prepare and make our transition to FCA oversight as easy as possible, was to register for the updated funeral director portal at mygoldencharter.co.uk and actively use Paperless Applications. These services have been re-designed to provide us with the structure and support to guide us through the FCA’s requirements when organising a funeral plan for a customer.

Step two is to apply to become an Appointed Representative or an Introducer Appointed Representative. Your business manager will discuss and explain the choices to you. Ultimately we want to ensure Independents choose the option which is right for their business.

Your business manager will reach out to you in due course, however if you are ready to move forward now, I would encourage you to get in touch with your business manager at your convenience to progress your application.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have given up your time to support our association and Golden Charter during the year. Whether through phone calls, surveys, attending our AGM, or participation on working groups or the SAIFCharter Executive - your feedback is valued.  This is our company, and it remains vitally important that we can all contribute.

I’m also pleased to confirm the minutes from our AGM are now available by logging in to the members’ area of our website with your username and password. Please do get in touch if you have any feedback or questions.

I look forward to working with you all in the year ahead. It’s your professionalism, dedication and care, together with the partnership offered through Golden Charter, which will ensure we continue to succeed in 2022 and beyond.

I hope you and those working alongside you find some time to rest and relax over Christmas.

Best wishes,

Adam Ginder
